Brisbane can be hot all year round. A functioning air-conditioning system is essential for comfort of you and your passengers. If you’re feeling a little hot under the collar it may be a sign of a need for an air conditioning service or repairs.

Reasons for poor air-con performance can be very minor or in small cases a major repair can be required. An initial inspection can often quickly reveal the issue and a remedy recommended to the owner. Occasionally the vehicle may have a leak in the system. The location of the leak can be inside the cabin or in the engine bay. To assist with leak detection we at Connolly motors have the latest leak detection equipment and also add a UV dye into the gas. This can then make leak detection with a special UV light very successful.

Working on air-conditioning requires the operator to be accredited with Arctick (National Government Environmental Agency).  Our staff are fully trained and licenced (#34393). They are experienced with all modern vehicles and the different refrigerants required.

What happens in an air conditioning Sandgate service?

• All drive belts and pulleys and checked for condition
• Evacuate system and record the level of refrigerant.  This may reveal the system is full of gas and indicate the system has a mechanical or electrical issue
• Add required amount of refrigerant oil and UV dye
• Charge system with the type and level of gas recommended by the manufacturer
• Check for operation of condenser fan and that condenser is cooling the gas efficiently
• Pressure readings on high and low sides are nor observed and whether within specifications.
• The entire system is then checked with an electronic leak detector
• Run vehicle to check air vent temperature and report
• Road test vehicle at differing speeds whilst monitoring temp readings at the vents

Are you smelling something a bit off when the air-conditioning is in use? It’s probably mould bacteria behind the dash. A lot of condensation can create some damp conditions that when combined with dust produces mould. . A special spray can be used to kill the bacteria and provide a more pleasant odour throughout the vehicle. Ask when booking in for a deodoriser to be administered to the air conditioning system.
