About Connolly Motors – Trusted Mechanics In Sandgate Since 1951

Connolly motors has been a family owned and operated mechanical workshop since 1951. That is over 70 years keeping families safe in the local neighbourhood. From Toyota to Audi or Holden to Peugeot, we pride ourselves on our ability to handle repairs on any make or model.

Our Sandgate mechanics are factory trained with over a collective 100 years of experience of most of the major manufacturers (Australian, European, Japanese, Korean) including light truck and buses, diesels and late model European vehicles. We aim to provide an experience that leaves you feeling you received professional, friendly service and value for your hard earned dollar.

Our standing as trusted mechanics Sandgate has been built over many decades and is very important to us and we aim to protect and enhance that reputation by exceeding your expectations. We know that being without your vehicle is inconvenient, so we offer some solutions. We know the ‘school pick up time’ very well and always ensure the vehicle is ready by that time or in other cases, at the very least we return the vehicle to you on the same day.

Our History

Patrick Connolly was the founder of Connolly Motors in 1951. He was a tenacious character but was foremost a family man. His upbringing was always centred on a strong work ethic and a sense of resourcefulness that enabled him to master many skills.Pat was a dairy farmer, motor mechanic and motor dealer, beef cattle grazier and race horse breeder and trainer. He left a wonderful legacy for future generations to follow.

The business was a leading fuel supplier that offered up to six brands of fuel at any one time. The workshop offered mechanical and panel beating/painting services. The introduction of a car yard enabled the business to flourish.

A partnership was brokered with the Ford Motor Company that allowed Connolly Motors to becomeone of the first Ford Sub-dealerships buying cars directly from Metro Ford. The current main office used to be the showroom floor.

Connolly Motors mechanics were Ford trained and were fortunate to be given training on the first of the Falcons to be built in Australia in 1960.

The workshop strived to provide a modern workshop service. They were the first mechanic in Sandgate to have a hydraulic vehicle hoist and wheel alignment machine with a purpose built inspection pit.

Giving Back To The Sandgate Community

Each year Connolly Motors would sponsor an entrant in the Rose Bowl which was a community fundraising event and formed part of the Miss Australia contest.  Elaborate floats were built and ‘Miss Connolly Motors’ was driven through the parade in a new Model T Ford.

Today, Connolly Motors continue to provide support to the local Sandgate community.
